About this Project

Roofline-Up Chimney Rebuild | Portland, Oregon

This Portland home had a chimney in serious disrepair. The brickwork above the roofline was deteriorating and crumbling, creating both structural and water intrusion concerns.

Our team carefully removed the failing brickwork from the roofline up and rebuilt the chimney using new brick and fresh mortar to restore strength, safety, and curb appeal.

We also installed a new concrete chimney crown to properly shed water and protect the masonry from future damage, along with a new terracotta flue liner to ensure safe and efficient venting.

The result: a structurally sound, weather-protected chimney built to withstand the Pacific Northwest elements.

Chimney Flashing Installation | Portland, Oregon

To further protect this home, we installed new flashing around the chimney at the roofline. Flashing is a critical waterproofing component that seals the area where the chimney meets the roof.

Without properly installed flashing, water can seep into the roof decking and ceiling, leading to leaks, rot, and costly interior damage. By adding new flashing, we created a watertight barrier that directs rain safely away from the chimney and roof structure.

This added layer of protection helps preserve both the chimney and the home, ensuring long-term durability against Portland’s wet weather conditions.

Chimney Mortar Restoration | Portland, Oregon

The lower half of this chimney was showing signs of mortar deterioration, with cracked and failing joints that can allow water intrusion and compromise structural integrity over time.

Our team carefully ground out all failing mortar joints and applied fresh mortar throughout the lower section of the chimney. This process restores strength to the masonry, improves stability, and helps prevent water from penetrating through cracks and entering the home.

Repointing like this is one of the most important maintenance steps for extending the life of a chimney. Fresh mortar not only reinforces the structure, it also protects against moisture damage, freeze-thaw cycles, and costly repairs down the road.

The result: a solid, weather-protected chimney ready to handle Portland’s rainy seasons with confidence.
